I wish to apologise to everybody, and in particular to Jan for having faith in my story Chronicles of Mark Johnson, it was nice to think someone liked it, after it died in the sales dept. And to Sarana for editing my work.
I tried to do my best, and not let anyone down -- I hate myself for doing it -- and no punishment comes harsher than that, but in the end the edits go to me, and I was overwhelmed with gloom.
If anyone wants to read book 1, you can get a copy from Jan. I did write book 2, and would be happy to let anyone have a copy. It has been described as a haunting account of a man going through a mental breakdown.
I had planned on book 3, and perhaps a romantic book 4, but that idea has been put to bed.
Sorry, seems so inadequate a word to use when I let you down. Believe me, I loathe myself for this, and it will be many months, if not years before I get passed this.

Whilst I'm very sad to hear this Alan, I totally understand why you've made this decision and want you to know that there's no question of you letting people down - it's simply 'one of those things'.

We all know how hard it is to strive to get published, which is really not even half the journey these days, and how disillusionment and faith can be lost when trying to find a path through the marketing maze that brings up parallels with Sleeping Beauty's thorny moat Angry

Please don't lose touch - we're here for other things than just writing and I know myself that there's nothing to compare with being able to 'hang' with people who share your passion and really get what makes you - You! Smile

In the meantime we wish you well on your future journey and, because I have a barely concealed bent for cliche - remember that even when life dumps a load of manure on your doorstep - you can still grow a whole lot of beautiful roses! Tongue

Thanks Jan, that means more to me than I can say.  I will still hate myself for doing this to you.
I will be around, as for writing, at the moment. I have not only lost the drive I had, but the heart to do any. I think a large part of the problem boils down to I put so much time into the stories, seeing them fail tore me apart, an left me feeling worthless.

Sorry to hear this Alan, but I understand - we all get these times when it feels hopeless, and the only thing to do is stop for however long it takes.  Your faith in your writing will come back, I promise - you have many strengths to build on.  You certainly haven't let anyone down, it's just something that happens when we try to work at the curious business of writing.

I wish you well, and hope to see you back when you feel able.  Godspeed.

I have to admit to being afraid of this very thing - writing and having it either ripped to shreds or just dying with no one caring.  it's caused me more than one bout of writer's block.

Best of luck Alan.  Don't give up.

Thank you for the kind words, ladies. I have always maintained -- and still do -- the stories of Mark Johnson would not sell, because in a market built on mommy porn rips offs, and zombie culture. A series which demands the readers to think is doomed. H.P. Lovecraft (to whom the stories were likened on LinkedIn) isn't to everybody's taste.
Be honest, as soon as you start a zombie story you know the end, so what incentive is there to read on?
